How we make money — full transparency
SubsidySolar is free for homeowners. We earn a small referral fee from installers when a quote we connected leads to a completed installation. This fee is paid by the installer — not added to your quote. You always pay the installer at the same market rate. Our revenue model gives us zero incentive to push you toward an expensive system — a completed installation at any size earns us the same referral.

You compare and choose — we earn nothing from that choice
The installer you choose pays us a small referral fee if the installation happens. You pay the installer directly at market rates. Our fee does not affect your quote.
Important: SubsidySolar is not a party to any installation contract. Your agreement is directly with the installer you choose. We recommend always getting at least 2 quotes before signing anything.
Why we built this
In early 2025, a friend in Delhi tried to get solar panels installed. He spent three weeks calling installers, got 7 different quotes ranging from ₹1.2 lakh to ₹2.8 lakh for the same 3kW system, and never got a straight answer on subsidy. One installer said ₹30,000. Another said ₹1,08,000. The MNRE website said one thing, the DISCOM portal said another.
That experience is not unique. It's the reality of India's solar market today — massive potential, massive confusion, and a trust gap between homeowners and installers. The PM Surya Ghar scheme is one of the most generous solar policies in the world, but millions of eligible families haven't applied because they don't know where to start, who to trust, or what it will actually cost them.
SubsidySolar was built to fix one thing: give every Indian homeowner a clear, honest, instant answer to "What will solar cost me after subsidy, and who should I call?" Everything else — the calculator, the installer directory, the city guides — exists to serve that single goal.
How we verify our data
Solar is a high-stakes decision. Bad data can cost a homeowner ₹50,000+. Here is our exact verification process, updated June 2026.
- Installer MNRE empanelment cross-checked at mnre.gov.in every week. Any lapsed installer is removed within 7 days.
- Pricing collected from written quotes given to actual homeowners — not advertised rates. Updated every Monday.
- Subsidy amounts sourced from official MNRE circulars and state DISCOM orders, with circular number and date cited.
- Installation counts marked 'est.' are derived from state-level DISCOM adoption reports, not marketing claims.
- Google Maps ratings are independently verified — we do not use installer-provided ratings.

No paid placements
Installers are ranked by MNRE status, trust score, and verified reviews — not by payment to us. A premium listing on SubsidySolar cannot be bought.
Subsidy from official sources only
Every subsidy figure is sourced from MNRE circulars and state DISCOM orders. We cite source and date. If it changes, we update within 48 hours.
We are not an installer
SubsidySolar does not install solar panels, supply equipment, or handle government paperwork. We connect you to the right people — nothing more.
Your data stays yours
Your name and phone number are shared only with the installers you explicitly request a quote from. We do not sell lead data to bulk callers.
Who runs this
SubsidySolar is built by a small team of engineers and solar enthusiasts based in Delhi NCR. We have backgrounds in renewable energy, software engineering, and consumer technology.
We are not solar installers. We have no financial relationship with any equipment manufacturer or government body. We earn only when a verified installation happens — which means our incentive is to help you find a good installer, not an expensive one.
